Level 3 Award in Basic Expedition Leadership
The Sports Leaders UK Level 3 Award in Basic Expedition Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that trains and qualifies teachers, youth workers and other members of the community to:
Lead groups in lowland areas
Have responsibility for the care of others when outdoors including day journeys
Organise base and mobile camps.
It is the minimum qualification required by many Local Authorities and Operating Authorities of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme, to train and lead groups in the expedition section of the Bronze and Silver Awards.
Mountain Leader Training UK include the Level 3 Award in Basic Expedition Leadership on the qualification matrix in the National Guidelines for Climbing and Hill walking Leaders.
The qualification counts towards the service section of all three awards in The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.
You'll get:
A Log Book for each candidate
One year's third party and personal accident insurance
A certificate and badge on successful completion of the course.
The qualification does not qualify people to lead groups in remote or mountainous areas.

Level 3 Award in Day Walk Leadership
The Level 3 Award in Day Walk Leadership provides successful candidates with the skills to:
Lead walking groups in lowland areas.
Teach the basic skills needed to undertake a day walk.
The Level 3 Award in Day Walk Leadership is an ideal qualification for health walk leaders, walking group leaders (over 50s, ramblers), teachers, youth workers and countryside rangers who want to lead groups in lowland terrain.
Although similar to our existing Level 3 Award in Basic Expedition Leadership, this new qualification does not involve overnight stays and camping.
