Elbrus 5,642 metres (18,510 ft)

Elbrus is the highest mountain in Europe. Located in the western Caucasus. Elbrus like Kilimanjaro is one of the "Seven Summits" which consists of the highest mountain in each continent.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Arrive in Min.Vody.
We will meet you here and take you to your hotel situated in the village of Terskol. The rooms are comfortable and cosy, with a toilet and a shower.

Day 2 - Acclimatization hike to Cheget peak (2900m)
This will take us about 5 hours. We will stop at the "Ai" cafe (2750m.) where you can appreciate a panoramic view of the Baksan valley and the twin summits of Mt.Elbrus. Ascent Mt.Cheget and then return to the hotel to relax.

Day 3 - Acclimatization hike to Terskol peak(3100m) 5 hrs.
At the summit we will enjoy the magnificent view of Mt.EIbrus before returning to the hotel.

Day 4 - Barrel Hut 3750m
After breakfast we leave the hotel and catch the cable-car from the station Azau. We take two trams and a chairlift up to the Garabashi lift station (3750m). Check into the Barrels Refuge.(3750m). An acclimatization hike to 4100m. (where Priutt 11 Refuge was situated). Overnight in the hut.

Day 5 - Pastukhov Rocks
After breakfast we’ll do an acclimatization hike to 4700m to the top of the Pastukhov Rocks where we'll enjoy the panorama of the Central Caucasus spreads out around us. Overnight in the hut.

Day 6 – Rest day. Overnight in the hut.
The Barrels Hut -Is situated on Elbrus slope close to the Garabashi lift station at 3750m. These are small houses shaped like barrels. There is a sleeping room with 6 beds and a small room with a wardrobe, and a table in every house. There is a canteen with a kitchen in a separate hut. There is no shower, the toilets are in a separate hut.

Day 7 - Summit day Mt Elbrus(5642m).
We have to start very early before dawn. Using headlamps we make our way to the Pastukhov Rocks where we stop for a short rest and some drinks. The time limit is 12.00 at the saddle (5300m). The more difficult sections are located higher on the Saddle, altitude 5350-5600m. The last section presents a wide Plato which is usually very windy and finally the Summit! Descent to the Barrels Hut. Overnight in the hut.

Day 8- Descend to the hotel.
Celebrate/rest at the hotel.

Day 9 - Drive to Mineralnye Vody.
